Bream Comp 2009

POOLE DOLPHINS S.A.C.

OPEN SPECIMEN BREAM COMPETITION 2009.

SPONSORED BY POOLE SEA ANGLING CENTRE

Masterline Walker, Shakespeare,  Kiddes.

SUPPORTED BY POOLE TOURISM.

Yet again fair weather blessed the Poole Dolphins annual competition to find the best Black Bream caught on the day from either charter or private boat. With just a light NE wind and clear skies meant that all boats got away to their chosen fishing grounds safely.

A total of 167 anglers booked in at Poole Sea Angling Centre by 8-30am to enter the competition that also doubled up as an Angling Trust event. Out of these anglers, 50 found fish of the 2lb qualifying weight and as written in the rules, returned just one fish each to the scales. Some of these fish were returned alive to fight another day and well done to those anglers for playing their part in the conservation of this hard fighting fish. Of these 50 anglers 8 were skilled enough to find fish over the 3lb mark, with the winner very close to 4lb.

1st place cash prizes were paid to the best fish caught from a private boat and to the best fish caught from a charter boat, keeping it fair for both sections. A further  3 cash prizes were paid down to 5th place and then 12 more received rods and reels etc from the tackle table as donated by Andy at Poole Sea Angling Centre.

1st place on the day from a private boat went to Stuart Summerell aboard 5050, a fish of 3lb 15 3/4oz earned him £400 and also £150 from the optional pool.

1st place on the charter boats went to Phil Carling with a fish of 3lb 5 1/4 oz, also collecting £400.

2nd place to Paul Symons, 3lb 8 1/4oz, private boat White Magic, collecting £200.

3rd place to Will Summerell, 3lb 5oz, private boat 5050, collecting £150.

4th place to Malcolm Croucher, 3lb 4 1/4oz, charter boat Strongbow, collecting £50.

Others: Pete Richardson 3lb 3oz, Jackie White 3lb 1oz, Gordon Welburn 3lb, Tony Harvey 2lb 14oz, Clice Davis 2lb 14oz, Andy Herman 2lb 13oz, Jan Tryska 2lb 12oz, Graham Archer 2lb 12oz, Brian Hewson 2lb 12oz, Mark Burdett 2lb 11oz, Mike Goodwin 2lb 11oz, Brian Hardy 2lb 11oz.

Angling Trust results:

Our thanks to everyone that entered, to Ade and his team at the Pure Drop Inn for an excellent reception, hot curry and bottle draw and to Andy at PSAC.
